Our Christian Distinctiveness and Church Links

Our school’s Christian distinctiveness is enriched by our close and valued relationship with our local parish church, which dates back to the 12th century, with origins in the late Norman period. The church provides a meaningful and historic setting that supports our pupils’ spiritual development and understanding of Christian faith.

Children regularly visit the church throughout the year to celebrate key events in the Christian calendar, including Christmas, Easter and Harvest Festival. These experiences help pupils to make clear links between learning in school, worship in church and the wider Christian community.

We are also greatly supported by Reverend Irene Smith, who is a regular and welcome visitor to our school. Through leading worship, spending time with pupils and supporting the wider life of the school, Reverend Irene plays an important role in nurturing our Christian values and strengthening the connection between school and church.

Together, these experiences help our pupils to develop a deeper understanding of faith, belonging and community, supporting them to flourish within our Church of England ethos.
