Progress Board Governance at Hutchinson Memorial CE First School
At Hutchinson Memorial CE First School, we are currently supported by a Progress Board. This is a temporary group put in place by the Innovate2Educate Partnership Trust to help the school move forward during a period of improvement.
Why do we have a Progress Board?
Sometimes schools benefit from some extra support and closer monitoring. This may be because the Trust has identified areas that need strengthening or because the school is going through an important period of change.
The Progress Board has been set up to make sure the school has the guidance, challenge and expertise it needs to continue improving rapidly and securely.
What does the Progress Board do?
The Progress Board works closely with school leaders to:
- Check that the school is improving at the pace expected
- Support the school to raise standards
- Make sure safeguarding and all areas of school life are strong
- Help identify what is working well and what needs to develop further
It meets regularly to review progress and to ensure the school is moving in the right direction.
How does it fit within the Trust?
The Progress Board is part of the Trust’s governance structure.
It temporarily replaces the Local Academy Committee and reports directly to the Trust Board. This means the school receives the strongest level of support and oversight while improvements are being made.
Once the Trust is confident that the school is secure in its progress, a new Local Academy Committee will be put in place, and governance will return to the usual structure.
