We are waiting to receive updated guidance from the Local Authority regarding what control measures will continue to be in place in September. The Government has issued some guidance, with more to follow in the next few days. Our risk assessments will be updated accordingly and will be
communicated with you as soon as possible. There will be no change to our existing control measures and procedures for the remainder of this term. Thank you for continuing to support the implementation of these.
Associate Teacher Placements
We have said good bye to Mr Day who has been on placement with us in the Owls class. Miss Pickford who has been on her final placement in Hedgehogs will be leaving us this Friday. We wish them
both all the very best as they pursue their careers in teaching.
You will be receiving your child’s Annual Report next week. On Monday 19th July, there will be an opportunity for you to speak to your child’s class teacher should you wish to discuss any aspect of
your child’s report with them. This will be via a telephone call. Please contact your child’s class teacher via Seesaw should you wish for a telephone appointment.
PTFA Sponsored Walk
You will have received your child’s sponsor form in preparation for next week’s walk. Classes will be completing their walk on different days next week. You will be notified once they have competed
the walk. Fingers crossed for some sunshine next week!!
Each class will be taking part in their own Sports’ Afternoons. Hedgehogs had a lovely afternoon this week as they enjoyed theirs – thank you to Mrs Manlove who captured the races and shared these with Parents via Seesaw. The Owls and Badgers will be doing the same.
Year 4 Leavers
Mr Burnett is working really hard to mark the ending of our Year 4’s time with us as special and as memorable as we can. We are hoping to have a Celebration Service in school which again we will share with Parents via Seesaw. I’m sure the children will enjoy a very special ending to their time at Hutchinson Memorial – we have some surprises planned for the last few days!!!
Community Centre Car Park
I have recently been approached by the Checkley Community Centre Committee regarding an issue on the park/play area on the car park. The farmer is concerned that there is a hole in the fence/hedge and that children can get into the field, which would be dangerous if there was machinery being used at the time. When using the play area, please ensure children are aware of this potential danger and are well supervised at all times.
End of term
Please note that the last day of term is Tuesday 20th July (Wednesday 21st is an INSET day and closed to pupils).
Children will return to school on Thursday 2nd September.
Year 3 & 4 Residential Visit
A huge thank you to Mrs Horleston and Mr Burnett for giving up their time to take the children in Year 3 and 4 to Shugborough for a 2 night residential visit. The children thoroughly enjoyed their time there—it was lovely to be able to give them this experience, especially for the Year 4’s who
were unable to go last year.
The children were absolutely brilliant—they were a credit to our school and parents a like. They were a real pleasure to take away and represented our school impeccably well. Well done Year 3 &4!!
Temporary closure of before and after school club
Unfortunately, due to staff requiring to self-isolate we have no alternative but to temporarily close
our before and after school club with immediate effect. Subject to staff being well enough to return to school, we hope to open next Thursday 15th July. We will confirm its re-opening date next
We appreciate this will cause difficulties for some of our families. We ask for your understanding
as these circumstances are beyond our control.
